A press conference of Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Latvia Daiga Mieriņa, currently in Azerbaijan on an official visit, took place at the Milli Majlis on 20 May.

The Speaker of the Latvian Parliament shared her impressions from the meetings with President Ilham Aliyev and civil servants in the course of the visit to our country as well as mentioned the topics discussed as she replied to the journalists’ questions. The visitor remarked that the Latvian support for Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty had been declared at those meetings. Besides, they had discussed promoting the economic, agricultural, tourism, educational and other relations as well as the prospects of the inter-parliamentary ties.

The Speaker of the Parliament of Latvia referred to the trip to Shusha and Fuzuli during her visit and mentioned the building and restoration work under way in the de-occupied territories. She also mentioned the significance of Azerbaijan’s forthcoming hosting of the COP29 and said she was sure of the eventual success of the peace talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
