Imposing a disciplinary sanction on MP Bahruz Maharramov was discussed at the meeting that the Disciplinary Commission of the Milli Majlis held on 7 November.

As maintained by the Commission Members, the views about Iran and the Iranian supreme leadership that MP Bahruz Maharramov choose to put forth at the plenary session of the Azerbaijani Parliament on 6 November 2020 contradict the spirit of friendship and kindly neighbourliness between the Azerbaijan Republic and the Islamic Republic of Iran. Meanwhile, an MP must always be guided by a sense of responsibility in their speeches and forever place the national interest foremost.

It was said next that the statements of MP Bahruz Maharramov in no way expressed the stances of the Azerbaijani Parliament. The Commission Members said they were certain that no-one could ever harm the friendly relations between our nations and states.

In the end, the Disciplinary Commission decided to apply a disciplinary sanction to MP Bahruz Maharramov.
