Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova who is in Geneva of the Swiss Confederation on a working visit has had a meeting with Secretary General of the Inter-parliamentary Union Martin Chungong. Their meeting broached the issues of co-operation between the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Inter-parliamentary Union.

     Speaker Sahiba Gafarova fondly remembered her various meetings with the Inter-parliamentary Union Secretary General and President on the margins of international events, also expressing contentment with the current state of collaboration between the Milli Majlis and the Inter-parliamentary Union. It was remarked that the Inter-parliamentary Union is an effective platform in terms of international co-operation.

      The high-level and active representation of Azerbaijan in the Organisation was lauded during the conversation. Satisfaction was also voiced with the presence of Members of the Milli Majlis in the governing bodies of the Organisation.

    It was repeated at the meeting that the parliamentary conference that the the Inter-parliamentary Union and the Milli Majlis had co-arranged in the COP29 format last year had been conducted to high standards. Besides, it was emphasised that the successful implementation of a number of events thanks to the parties' joint activities provides opportunities for the continued deepening of our co-operation.
