Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova Meets with Speaker of National Assembly of Cambodia Khuon Sudary

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has held a meeting with Speaker of the National Assembly of Cambodia Khuon Sudary on 17 September as part of her working visit to Malaysia.
The significance of the work of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (APIA) of the Association of South East Asian Nations as an international parliamentary platform as well as of the collaboration within the format of this organisation was underlined in the course of the meeting.
Also, it was said during the conversation that Azerbaijan and Cambodia are friendly states.
Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova brought up the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and, in this context, also of a continued deepening of the relationship of our parliaments. She recalled her official visit to Cambodia and the meetings held during it, and emphasised the significance of the Memorandum of Understanding inked between the Milli Majlis and the Chamber of Representatives of Cambodia.
Also, the interlocutors expressed contentment with the reciprocal visits of MPs and with both sides’ participation in the events held in Azerbaijan and Cambodia.
Speaker of the National Assembly of Cambodia Khuon Sudary mentioned his country’s interest in a continued development of the political, economic, trading, investment and other connexions with Azerbaijan.
He also declared pleasure with the AIPA participation of the Speaker of the Milli Majlis and his meeting with her in the format of the Assembly.
Besides, issues related to co-operation under the aegis of international parliamentary organisations were talked over during the conversation. Speaker Sahiba Gafarova voiced satisfaction with the Cambodian Parliament’s active engagement in the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement, established on the initiative of the President of Azerbaijan.
Speaker of the National Assembly Khuon Sudary, in turn, praised the work done by Azerbaijan during her chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement and the activities of the Parliamentary Network alike.
The meeting also saw an exchange of opinions about other matters of joint interest.
