Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has met with President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Tulia Ackson who is visiting in our country to take part in the XIII Global Baku Forum.

Views upon the Baku Forum and the significance of the discussions going on at this event were expressed during the meeting. Having broached the peace and dialogue promotion efforts that Azerbaijan is making to the backbeat of the current tense regional and international situations, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova emphasised that the Global Baku Forum was an important platform to discuss many concerns of the international community in this sense.

Tulia Ackson, too, underlined the importance of the Global Baku Forum as an international forum. She, besides, praised President Ilham Aliyev’s role and initiatives in the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process, observing that they made up a model for solving problems between states.

International co-operation issues were reviewed as well at the conversation. Contentment was expressed with the active representation of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan in the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the current standards of co-operation between this international organisation and the Parliament of Azerbaijan. Besides, there was an exchange of opinions about co-operation between the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
