Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova meets with Speaker of Council of the Republic of National Assembly of Belarus

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has met with Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Kochanova on the sidelines of the 60th Plenary Meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly in the city of St Petersburg of the Russian Federation.
Satisfaction was expressed during the meeting with the successful development of the relations between our countries across all the areas and based on friendship and mutual trust. They underscored the tremendous role of the friendly ties between the two Heads of State as well as of high-status reciprocal visits and political dialogue in the Azerbaijani-Belarusian relations’ having set the current high standards.
It was stressed that the legislative bodies have a special role of their own in the deepening of the relationship of the two countries and peoples, and contentment was voiced with the fruitful co-operation also apace between our Parliaments. Speaker Sahiba Gafarova recalled the visit to Azerbaijan a few days ago of Speaker of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Igor Sergeenko and the meetings they had had, as well as her own visits to Belarus and those of Natalya Kochanova to Baku, going forth to emphasise that reciprocal visits of Speakers and Members of Parliament serve the cause of continuing the deepening of the legislative bodies’ co-operation.
It was observed that, alongside the positive bilateral co-operation bonds, the Parliaments of Azerbaijan and Belarus also co-operate in international parliamentary organisations such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS and the Asian Parliamentary Assembly.
Natalya Kochanova, too, pointed up the high level of our countries’ economic, trading, cultural and other ties, and emphasised the correspondingly particular significance of the inter-parliamentary relations.
The meeting also had an exchange of opinions about other matters of shared interest.
