Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has held a number of meetings on the sidelines of the IPU Global Conference of Women Parliamentarians.

The significance of the Global Conference for expanding co-operation amongst women parliamentarians was pointed out during the meetings with President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Tulia Ackson, President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Pere Joan Pons, Speaker of the Senate of Zimbabwe Mabel Memory Chinomona, newly-elected Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Anda Filip, the Organisation’s Vice President Gabriela Morawska-Stanecka, Executive Committee Member Karen Bradley and President of the Bureau Cynthia López Castro as well as with the Vice Speakers of the House of Representatives of Morocco Nadia Touhami and Zaina Id Hali, and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Mauritania Siham Najem.

Multilateral platforms’ importance was emphasised and issues related to co-operation both upon international parliamentary platforms and bilaterally between our parliaments were discussed in the conversations.
