Chair of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova Speaks with Chairman of National Assembly of Djibouti
Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met on 1 July with Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Djibouti Mohamed Ali Houmed who had come to our country for the Baku Conference of the NAM PN.
Saying that she was glad to welcome the head of the Djiboutian parliament in Azerbaijan, Mrs Gafarova thanked Mr Houmed for having accepted the invitation to take part in this tremendous event that Azerbaijan had organised.
Djibouti is Azerbaijan’s friend, Mrs Gafarova pointed out before voicing her appreciation of Djibouti’s support for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, condemnation of the aggressive policy of Armenia and the Djiboutian National Assembly’s having recognised the Khojali Genocide.
The special roles the parliaments play in deepening the bilateral relations and the praiseworthy work done by both sides’ inter-parliamentary connexions working groups as well as Azerbaijan’s victory in the 44-day Patriotic War and the new reality settled in our region were talked of after that.
Chairman of the National Assembly of Djibouti Mohamed Ali Houmed witnessed his satisfaction with the arrival in Azerbaijan, underlined the significance of the Baku Conference of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement and described our country as a valuable member of this entity. He also said the words of gratitude to the Azerbaijani side for having attained high standards in arranging the conference. The Djiboutian guest praised President Ilham Aliyev’s address at the conference, too.
The Republic of Djibouti wishes to expand its relations with the Azerbaijan Republic in a number of areas including that of inter-parliamentary connexions; more reciprocal visits are required to keep up the exchange of information and experience therefore, said Mr Houmed before voicing his thoughts about the growth prospects of our inter-parliamentary connexions.
Other matters of concern to both sides were talked over during the conversation as well.
