A Meeting of Chair of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova and Chairman of Nepalese House of Representatives
Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova had a meeting with Chairman of the House of Representatives of Nepal’s Federal Parliament Agni Prasad Sapkota on 1 July.
Telling Mr Sapkota, who had arrived to join the Baku Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, that she was glad of the opportunity to welcome him in our country, Mrs Gafarova referred to the ideas contained in the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s address at the event about the role of the NAM in the current global processes and about several other very relevant matters. Those thoughts are of essence for charting the lines of work of the organisation, according to Mrs Gafarova.
The special role of the parliaments in promoting the interrelations and the need to deepen the inter-parliamentary connexions were stressed then.
Mrs Gafarova went on to talk about Azerbaijan’s victory in the 44-day Patriotic War and the new realia established in our region, the current restoration and re-construction of our de-occupied territories and that the guests to Baku would be able to see the destruction caused during the occupation and the on-going restoration work for themselves during their planned trip to Shusha tomorrow. The Speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament also said she believed that a peace treaty was going to be signed with Armenia soon.
Chairman of the Nepalese House of Representatives Agni Prasad Sapkota spoke appreciatively of his visit to Azerbaijan, touched on the momentousness of the NAM PN Baku Conference and of the matters discussed during it, thanked the Azerbaijani side for the top-notch arrangement and conduct of the event and made known his high appreciation of President Ilham Aliyev’s address there.
According to Mr Sapkota, Nepal wants to promote relations with Azerbaijan in a number of areas with inter-parliamentary interaction being one of them. This is why it is a pressing matter to put on more two-way visits so that experience and information can be exchanged more intensively, Mr Sapkota was saying.
Other matters of interest to both parties were talked over at the meeting, too.
