Chair of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova Meets Chairman of Senate of Arab Republic of Egypt

Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova had a meeting with the visiting Chairman of the Senate of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdel Wahab Abdel Razeq on 30 June.

Telling the guest that she was glad to welcome him in Azerbaijan, the Speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament thanked Mr Razeq for taking part in the Baku Conference of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement, an organisation incepted upon the initiative of the President of Azerbaijan.

Mrs Gafarova underlined the Azerbaijani President’s address at the conference – the speech in which he had shared his thoughts about the current global situation and emphasised the global-level developments going on in the NAM. The ideas of the Head of State regarding a number of current issues are very important inasmuch as drawing the vectors of the Movement’s work is concerned.

Mrs Gafarova spoke of the significance of the co-operation in the NAM and stated her certainty of the success of the Parliamentary Network’s activities.

Next, the Speaker of the Milli Majlis talked about the special roles of parliaments in making the inter-state relations stronger, the usefulness of reciprocal visits of parliamentary delegations for information and experience exchanged and the laudable relevant work done by the inter-parliamentary friendship groups of the legislatures of both our countries.

Azerbaijan’s remarkable victory in the 44-day Patriotic War was referred to as well. The Egyptian Senator was told about the current restoration and re-construction under way in the de-occupied territories of our country and that, definitely, a peace agreement would be signed between the two countries soon enough.

Chairman of the Senate of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdel Wahab Abdel Razeq thanked Chair of the Milli Majlis for the invitation to join the NAM PN Baku Conference, referred to its high-standard organisation and mentioned the recognition given to this initiative of Azerbaijan. This event is bound to make a contribution of its own to maintaining peace and stability around the world, in the opinion of Mr Razeq.

Going further, Abdel Wahab Abdel Razeq offered his congratulations on the successful Azerbaijani chairmanship of the NAM and the inception of its Parliamentary Network upon the Azerbaijani instance. The Egyptian guest mentioned the high estimation of the address of President Ilham Aliyev at the Baku Conference and the relevance of the topics covered by him. Then, Mr Razeq wished the conference every success.

As he was talking about the place of inter-parliamentary relations in the general picture, Mr Razeq voiced the interest in promoting their continued progress and, once again, witnessed his pleasure with Azerbaijan’s having de-occupied her lands and commenced on the restoration and recreation work afoot in those territories.
