The deputy chairman of the Milli Majlis Economic Policy, Industries and Enterprising Committee Ali Masimli had a meeting on 14 July with the visiting delegation of the Lithuania-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary connexions working group of Lithuania’s Seimas led by the group chairman Kazys Starkevičius.

Ali Masimli mentioned Azerbaijan’s interest in furthering the relations with Lithuania in all the areas, said that the visit to our country of the Lithuanian president earlier this year had given the advancing relations an added push and that Lithuania was engaged in the current restoration of the liberated Azerbaijan territories.

MP Masimli also underscored the favourable trend present in the bilateral relations, stressed the special importance of the inter-parliamentary connexions and said that the working group for the Azerbaijan-Lithuania inter-parliamentary connexions was one of the largest of its kind in the Milli Majlis.

Besides, MP Masimli talked about the increases in our trade and economic interaction, and pointed out that the volume of trade recorded in 2021 had been 72% up on its 2020 counterpart. And yet, it is clear from the true potentials of the two countries that the figures should become yet higher eventually, in the opinion of the Azerbaijani legislator.

The chairman of the Lithuania-Azerbaijan working group of Lithuania’s Seimas Kazys Starkevičius thanked for the kind welcome, voiced his satisfaction with the progress of our relations and pointed at the importance of boosting the trade turnovers, which, then, seems to be what is happening considering the positive tendencies of the past few years.

The importance of mutual investments and promoting our relations in the humanitarian, academic & education, trading and other central areas were discussed during the conversation as well.

Incidentally, the Azerbaijani MPs Nasib Mahamaliyev, Mazahir Efendiyev, Aydin Huseynzade and Mahir Abbaszade and Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Lithuania Tamerlan Garayev were amongst the participants of the meeting.
