A Meeting with a Georgian Delegation at Milli Majlis
The head of the Mill Majlis working group for the inter-parliamentary connexions with Georgia Arzu Naghiyev received the visiting delegation led by the governor of Georgia’s Kvemo-Kartli region Giorgi Dokhturishvili on 14 July.
During the conversation, Mr Naghiyev mentioned the recently-periodic meetings of our friendship groups and pointed out the fact that our relations were not limited to implementation of large projects but also progressed in the inter-parliamentary dimension. Mr Naghiyev also thanked Georgia for manifesting itself a friendly country during the Garabagh War II as he was talking about it.
It was further said that the signing of a twinning memorandum between Kvemo-Kartli and certain regions of our country was going to boost the interaction amongst the two sides’ provinces further and that the memorandum was going to promote economic growth and an increase in tourism.
Giorgi Dokhturishvili said that that was his first visit to Azerbaijan, thanked for the hospitality and stressed that the memorandum in question was very important in terms of taking the co-operation amongst the provinces of the two countries further. Now, he said, our nations would discuss together the matters concerning them both and requiring solutions, and the relations would continue advancing.
Mr Dokhturishvili stressed that Georgia is forever ready for co-operation, invited an Azerbaijani delegation to go to his country and wished the members of the Milli Majlis success in their work.
The Azerbaijani parliamentarians Mazahir Efendiyev and Javid Osmanov were talking about the bilateral links in the economic, cultural, humanitarian and many other areas. The two fraternal neighbours who are also strategic allies could make joint efforts for the sake of security in the South Caucasus, the MPs stressed.
Both sides voiced the shared satisfaction with the progress of the Azerbaijani-Georgian relations, which, they emphasised, were going to develop further.
