A Meeting at the Milli Majlis
The members of the Milli Majlis Tural Ganjaliyev, Sevil Mikayilova and Vugar Bayramov had a meeting with a delegation led by Tomasz Poręba of the European Parliament’s Committee on Transport and Tourism on 18 July.
Tural Ganjaliyev welcomed the guests before turning to the immense importance that Azerbaijan he said attached to its links with the Europarliament and covering the connexions between our country and the European countries including Poland, the Polish MEP Tomasz Poręba and the other member of the visiting delegation Witold de Cheville. Also, the MEPs were supplied with an overview of the new realia established across our region upon the conclusion of the 44 days’ Patriotic War, the current restoration of the liberated Azerbaijani territories and the forthcoming return to there of the former residents who had been evicted during the occupation period. A lasting peace in the region and the opening of the communications including that of the Zangazur Corridor will promote regional economic growth and the prosperity of the region’s peoples across the board, according to MP Ganjaliyev.
Tomasz Poręba underlined the role of such visits as that of his delegation and of those meetings in spreading undistorted information about the post-war realia and the regional developments. MEP Poręba proceeded to talk about the need to reinforce regional security and unblock all the communication lines and about promoting the connexions between Azerbaijan and Europe in general and Poland in particular.
MP Sevil Mikayilova and MP Vugar Bayramov as well as the deputy chairman of the Return to Garabagh Organisation Gulmammad Mammadov, in turn, broached the subjects of the Azerbaijani initiatives to revivify the de-occupied territories, open communications, set up co-operation, normalise the relations with Armenia and ink a peace treaty with this country. They also put across their ideas about the growth prospects of the Azerbaijani-European relations.
Other matters of shared interest were the subject of an exchange of opinions, too, as the meeting drew on.
