The chairman of the Milli Majlis International and Inter-Parliamentary Relations Committee Samad Seyidov and the MPs Nigyar Arpadarai and Mazahir Efendiyev met a group of overseas mass media people accredited at the UN on 2 September.

Samad Seyidov told those journalists about the work that the Milli Majlis does as well as about Azerbaijan’s international connexions, foreign policy, relations with the neighbouring and other countries, our victory in 44 days’ Patriotic War and the genocide and vandalism by Armenia during the period of occupation. Mr Seyidov also touched on the current restoration in the de-occupied lands, the present-day state of relations with Armenia and the current peace negotiations.

In turn, Nigyar Arpadarai and Mazahir Efendiyev brought up the guests’ trip to the liberated provinces of Azerbaijan and said that even since the war had ended Azerbaijan had been working tenaciously towards a peace treaty with Armenia and normalisation of relations with this country. Opening regional communications and striking up co-operation will be in the interests of all the countries of the region including Armenia itself, according to the Azerbaijani MPs.

The overseas journalists congratulated the Azerbaijani side on the victory in the 44-day Patriotic War and proceeded to ask questions about the current state of affairs in our region, regional co-operation, peace-building and other matters. Our MPs answered all those questions duly.
