Chair of Milli Majlis Spoke with Chairman of the Assembly of Representatives of Tajikistan’s Majlisi Oli

In the course of her official visit to the Republic of Tajikistan Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova had a meeting with Chairman of the Majlisi namoyandagon of the Tajik Parliament Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda.

Welcoming the guests, the Chair of the Assembly of Representatives praised the arrival of the delegation of the Milli Majlis in his country and told them that their visit and the meetings held during it were certain to have a toward influence on the inter-state relations in terms of their growth.

Mr Zokirzoda also talked about the significance of the co-operation on the parliamentary level; he underlined the expedience of such visits for the experience and information exchange, stressed Tajikistan’s attaching great importance to furthering the relations with Azerbaijan and voiced the interest in deepening the political, economic and humanitarian co-operation.

Further, Mr Zokirzoda recalled his own trip to Azerbaijan to take part in the Third General Conference of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Economic Co-operation Organisation and the high standards to which the Azerbaijani side had hosted that rally. Mr Zokirzoda also witnessed his pleasure with the high advancement of our country.

Then, the Azerbaijani chairmanship in the Non-Aligned Movement and the initiative of our country to promote the expansion of the NAM’s parliamentary dimension were praised.

Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova said her thanks for the warm welcome and generous hospitality before describing the Azerbaijani-Tajik relationship as a friendly one and as a partnership. She emphasised the role of reciprocal visits of the two Heads of State in intensifying the bonds between the states and their nations alike. As regards the bipartite documents inked to date, they are making a powerful foundation upon which our co-operation will be fostered from now on.

Mrs Gafarova mentioned the bipartite diplomatic relations’ turning thirty years in 2022, remarking then that there was a large potential to advance our linkage in many areas.

Besides, as she was stating her thoughts about the existing co-operation between the legislatures of Azerbaijan and Tajikistan, Mrs Gafarova touched upon the co-operation agreement signed between the Milli Majlis and the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli. That, she said, was going to promote the progress of the inter-parliamentary ties.

In general, the parliamentary paradigm matters much for the incremental development of our countries’ friendship and partnership, in which context the work the inter-parliamentary friendship groups are doing is especially remarkable, Mrs Gafarova continued. It was said then that our MP had got efficient interaction under the aegis of international organisations going, too.

The inception of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement and the Baku Conference were the subjects that were broached during the conversation as well, with Mrs Gafarova remarking with confidence that the NAM PN was due to contribute in its special way to the progress of parliamentary diplomacy and global co-operation.

Furthermore, the leader of the Milli Majlis spoke of the 44 days’ Patriotic War, the brilliant victory won by our glorious Army led by Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev and the current restoration and rebuilding of the Azerbaijani lands freed from the invaders. That conflict remains only on the pages of history now; in the meantime, our country is doing a big kind of work towards sustainable peace and progressing co-operation in the region, according to Mrs Gafarova.

Then there was an exchange of opinions as to furthering our diverse relations and broadening the inter-parliamentary co-operation as well as about other topics of mutual interest.
