A group of the Milli Majlis members in the parliamentary Economic Policy, Industries and Enterprising Committee met representatives of the World Bank on 5 October.

The parliamentary committee’s member Vugar Bayramov greeted the guests and told them of the special importance our country gave to its bonds with the World Bank. He praised the collaborative implementation of economic standards in our country, in particular, the budgetary process organisation standards, and proceeded to talk about budget and the Milli Majlis budget approval procedures.

The committee members Aydin Huseynov and Mazahir Efendiyev cast a glance, so to speak, over the history of the fruitful Azerbaijan-WB co-operation, touched on its results and stated their ideas about sustainability of the budgetary system.

The WB delegation’s leader Ian Halvdan Ross Hawkesworth thanked for the warm reception and stressed the WB’s commitment to co-operating with Azerbaijan. He and the other WB official Mark Robinson then talked about the specific features of the institutional development programme concerning medium-term spending. They updated the Azerbaijani side as to the work done in the five practical vectors of the programme and shared thoughts about administration of budgeting processes.

Other matters of interest to both sides were broached during the conversation, too.

Employees of the Economic legislation department of the Milli Majlis Staff were amongst the other participants of the meeting.
