Chair of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova Meets Chairman of Grand National Assembly of Turkiye Mustafa Şentop
A meeting of Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova and Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkiye (GNAT) Mustafa Şentop took place in Jakarta on 6 October in the course of Mrs Gafarova’s current working trip to Indonesia.
Mr Şentop said he was glad of another encounter with Mrs Gafarova before offering his condolences over the deaths of Azerbaijani military in the countering of the provocations unleashed by Armenia. According to Mr Şentop, that Armenian provocation showed once again just how essential it is to attain unfailing peace and stability in the region. The GNAT leader stressed that Armenia had to sign a peace treaty for there was no alternative path to sustainability.
Then, Mr Şentop talked about the extensive restoration and rebuilding work afoot in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan. He mentioned appreciatively the successful progress of the efforts made to achieve a complete revival of Azerbaijan’s cultural capital of Shusha and of Garabagh as a whole. Mr Şentop also said he was glad to know that Lachin Province’s villages of Zabukh and Sus had returned into the embrace of the Motherland.
Mentioning fondly the high standards achieved by the inter-parliamentary relations between our friendly and sibling countries once more, Mr Şentop did not omit to underline the expansion of the relationship from year to year.
Chair of the Milli Majlis thanked the Turkish colleague for the cordial reception and kind words. Sahiba Gafarova said that the inviolable ties of friendship and fraternity of our nations and their countries set a fine example for all the countries nowadays. She emphasised the exceptional inputs of the two countries’ leaders in the advancing relationship, too. The leader of the Milli Majlis recalled the meeting of the presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkiye Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the margins of the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation’s summit in Samarqand, Uzbekistan on 15 September. That conversation as well as, in general, all the numerous meetings of the two presidents serve to ensure that the unity of the brotherly nations and their states is yet stronger, in the opinion of Mrs Gafarova.
The forthcoming year 2023 is rich in jubilees and remarkable dates, be it in the brotherly Turkiye or Azerbaijan: the centenary of our National Leader, the author of the modern Azerbaijani State, an outstanding politician and statesman Heydar Aliyev in our country and the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Turkiye. Many wide-format festivities and events are in the plan in both Azerbaijan and Turkiye in this regard, according to Sahiba Gafarova.
Our inter-parliamentary connexions, too, are advancing in the spirit of the overall bilateral links and to match their growth dynamics; the co-operation between the Milli Majlis and the GNAT is productive, be it bilaterally, trilaterally or multilaterally. The fruitful engagement within international inter-parliamentary entities and upon the relevant platforms as well as the mutual support that our MPs are giving to each other’s states’ stances speak in no uncertain terms of the height the unshakeable bonds of brotherhood and friendship have achieved, Sahiba Gafarova told Mustafa Şentop.
Other topics of shared interest were brought up during their conversation, too.
