Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis and chairman of the parliamentary Youth and Sports Committee Adil Aliyev had a meeting of the members and coaches of the teenage-youth National Kickboxing Team and the prominent athletes on 12 October.

The Vice Speaker congratulated the kickboxers on their victories and other achievements secured at the World Junior Kickboxing Championship held in Jesolo, Italy by the WAKO (World Association of Kickboxing Organisations). He also wished them further distinctions and told them that President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva treated the sports, sportsmen and their training with special care and attention invariably, which was why the sports were so much advanced in the country. Our athletes’ achievements and the high organisational standards of the sporting events hosted by Azerbaijan have led to us being recognised as a sports powerhouse internationally. That the State cares about sport inspires athletes to reach new heights. Each one of us has important tasks to fulfil in terms of educating our athletes as worthy citizens of Azerbaijan nurtured on the national and spiritual values, according to Mr Aliyev.

The president of the Azerbaijan Kickboxing Federation Orkhan Aliyev, the AKF first vice president Ramal Aslanov, other Federation functionaries as well as the coaches and athletes thanked the Head of State Ilham Aliyev and the First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva for the excellent conditions maintained for the athletes and their coaches. They also promised to continue reaching for new triumphs and to spare no effort to perform well in various tournaments.  

Then, Adil Aliyev wished the sportsmen about to go on the road success. He also congratulated Azer Maharramov, the winner of the Dieppe IFA World Arm-wrestling Cup and the son of the National Hero Asif Maharramov, with the Certificate of Honour of the Milli Majlis Youth and Sports Committee. To cap it, Vice Speaker Aliyev remarked that the life paths of our national heroes were the fine examples for all of us to go follow.
