As reported earlier, the 54^th plenary sitting of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States has taken place in Samarkand in Uzbekistan and our parliamentary delegation headed by Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova have taken part in it.

The Azerbaijani MPs spoke up at the discussions during the plenary sitting.

Member of the Milli Majlis Nizami Safarov was a reporter covering the work done by the IPA Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights at the meeting of the IPA CIS Council.

Mr Safarov also spoke at the plenum, that time, regarding the model law ‘On Social Advertising of Healthy Lifestyles’ and the recommendations about legislative protection of employee rights in corporate bankruptcy cases.

Member of the Azerbaijani parliament Rauf Aliyev spoke about the relevant international experience, the state backing given to mass media growth in Azerbaijan and the existing relevant legislative frameworks as the IPA Permanent Commission on Culture, Information, Tourism and Sport was discussing the model law ‘On Television and Broadcasting’.

The above-said speakers’ colleague Sabir Hajiyev covered the IPA CIS monitors’ attendance of the constitutional addenda and amendments referendum in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Incidentally, MP Hajiyev had been co-ordinator of that monitoring group.

MP Hajiyev also took the floor at the meeting of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Political Issues and International Co-operation.

MP Amina Agazade made a presentation concerning the model law ‘On the Contractual Law’ . 

Member of the Milli Majlis Mikhail Zabelin, in turn, commented on the new edition of the model draft law ‘On Environmental Security’ and the model draft law ‘On Environmental Funds’ as those two were tabled at the meeting of the IPA Permanent Commission on Agrarian Policy, Natural Resources and Energy. At the same meeting, MP Zabelin was re-elected as Deputy Chairman of that permanent commission. In addition, MP Mikhail Zabelin was decorated with the Order of Friendship.

The Azerbaijani parliamentarian Rasim Musabeyov spoke up as the international partner organisations’ attendance of the Assembly events was talked over at the meeting of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Political Issues and International Co-operation. Mr Musabekov was re-elected as Deputy Chair of that permanent commission, besides.

And Member of the Milli Majlis Emin Hajiyev told the participants of the 19^th meeting of the CIS Youth Inter-Parliamentary Assembly about employment of young people, vocational education, the broad development opportunities the youth in Azerbaijan are provided with and the relevant state programmes, both adopted and already in progress.
