Azerbaijani, Estonian Inter-Parliamentary Groups’ Members Meet at Milli Majlis

Head of the Milli Majlis working group for inter-parliamentary connexions with Estonia Jala Ahmadova received chairman of the Estonia-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary group of the Riigikogu Sven Sester on 15 November.

Mrs Ahmadova welcomed Mr Sester, told him she was glad to greet him at the legislature of Azerbaijan, touched upon the current inter-state co-operation and underlined the importance of its parliamentary dimension and of reciprocal visits in this context.

Then, the Azerbaijani parliamentarian made the guest aware of the new co-operation opportunities having sprung up in our region after the end of the Patriotic War of 44 days and of the Azerbaijani initiatives to make certain that peace and stability prevail across the region. Mrs Ahmadova also shared her thoughts about the potential behind expanding the Azerbaijani-Estonian economic, cultural and educational ties.

The leader of the Riigikogu inter-parliamentary group Sven Sester thanked for the hospitality extended to him, described the Estonian-Azerbaijani bonds and, in particular, inter-parliamentary co-operation in very praising terms and said that the bilateral co-operation was certain to go on contributing to ever-increasing prosperity of our nations.

Ilham Mammadov of the Milli Majlis WG and Azerbaijan’s ambassador in Tallinn Anar Maharramov, too, spoke their respective minds about the current two-way collaboration and its prospects.

Also, the meeting participants exchanged opinions about the efforts of Azerbaijan, a victory of the Patriotic War, to strengthen regional peace, about also the current peace negotiations and implications of what arrangements have been reached already, and about other matters of joint interest.
