Speaking with Utah Delegation at Milli Majlis
Chairman of the International and Inter-Parliamentary Relations Committee of the Milli Majlis Samad Seyidov met with members of the delegation of the State of Utah on 17 November.
Mr Seyidov’s greetings to the US visitors were followed by his words about the commonality between Azerbaijan and the United States in that both countries have the people adherent to varied religions, speaking different tongues and coming from diverse ethnic backgrounds live in peace and security. The parliamentary committee head touched on the tolerance existing in our country and the operations of the dissimilar confessions in the spirit of mutual respect.
Besides, Samad Seyidov told the North American visitors about the current situation in our region, the intention of Azerbaijan to build up peaceful neighbourly relations with Armenia and the people of Armenia aspiring for peace too – alas, the aspiration’s becoming tangible foiled by certain forces.
MP Nigyar Arpadarai, in turn, talked about the Azerbaijani traditions of multiculturalism and the adepts of all the creeds living in solidarity in Azerbaijan. As for the growth prospects of the Azerbaijani-US relations, Mrs Arpadarai singled out the importance of co-operation in education and of student exchanges.
Mrs Arpadarai also addressed Azerbaijan’s victory in the Patriotic War, the Armenian vandalism having wreaked havoc in our lands during their captivity and the current restoration work afoot in the liberated provinces of the country.
Senator for Utah Mike K McKell pointed at the importance attached to the values of multiculturalism in Azerbaijan, said that they were right next to our country in the current period she was going through and brought up the progress of the bilateral economic, humanitarian and other relations.
Further matters of shared interest were discussed, too, as the conversation went on.
