The joint meeting of the parliamentary committees (Public Associations and Religious Entities, Law Policy and State-Building, and Human Rights) called on 23 November to discuss the 1st-reading Political Parties Bill was followed by a press conference on the premises. Before it could begin, Chief of the Milli Majlis Staff Farid Hajiyev greeted the journalists who had covered the joint meeting of the committees, gave them the regards of Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova and wished them a successful press conference.

First Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis/Chairman of the Law Policy and State-Building Committee Ali Huseynov began the proceedings by saying in response to journalists’ questions that 66 adjustments had been made in the Bill following extensive public discussions. Those concerned the essence of the document as well as technical aspects. The corrections embraced parties’ establishment and dissolution, registration and so forth in part concerning relevant time-frames. It was recommended ultimately to bring the Bill before the House for consideration at a meeting in plenary in the first reading.

Chairman of the Human Rights Committee Zahid Oruj who, too, was answering questions, the principal goal of the state-building policy in this country is now seeing to it that political parties acted within the legal lane. The three years past have seen enough many meetings with the parties; dialogues have been conducted. The ultimate intent behind the new Bill’s drafting is to find a common denominator in this area and to form strong political parties. The State is determined to create a victorious political system following its victory in the Patriotic War.

All the other answers of the mass media people were met with ample questions as well.
