A Meeting of Chair of Milli Majlis and Chairman of Senate of Cambodia

The scope of the official visit of Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova to the Kingdom of Cambodia included a meeting with Chairman of the Cambodian Senate Vibolsena Fikdei Say Chhum.

Say Chhum greeted Sahiba Gafarova cordially, told her that he was pleased with the condition of co-operation amongst our legislatures and voiced the Cambodian side’s interest in promoting the co-operation further. Mr Chhum underscored the special importance of collaboration through international organisations, adding that Cambodia attached great importance to the work of the Non-Aligned Movement and its Parliamentary Network. He also congratulated the Azerbaijani party on the Network’s emergence on their instance and on the high-standard conduct of the PN’s first conference in Baku.

Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova said that she was satisfied with her visit to Cambodia, also expressing her gratitude for the hospitality and the backing given in Azerbaijan’s admission to the ASEAN IPA as an observer. The meetings and conversations that have taken place during her visit confirm the successful nature of our inter-parliamentary links whilst interaction between our friendship groups is central to broadening the co-operation, according to Mrs Gafarova.

Then, Mrs Gafarova supplied Mr Chhum with thorough information about the establishment of the NAM PN following the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev put forth by him as Chairman of the NAM in order to promote the entity’s parliamentary dimension. There was also a detailed account of the Network’s constituent rally, its first conference that was held in Baku, its current institutional growth and the tasks ahead. Speaking as Chair of the Network, Sahiba Gafarova remarked that the PN was ready to begin active interaction and links with the AIPA and other parliamentary organisations for the sake of achieving common goals.

Sahiba Gafarova also talked in detail about Azerbaijan’s successful advance, her international initiatives, our lands’ liberation from Armenian occupation and restoration of the Azerbaijani national territory’s wholeness with the victory in the Patriotic War of 2020, Armenia’s having destroyed all our towns, provinces, infrastructure, cultural and historical heritage completely during the occupation period and the current intensive restoration and rebuilding of the already-liberated territories.
