The idea of granting the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement the status of observe with the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States and granting the PUIC the same status with the NAM PN was discussed and seconded unanimously by all the participating national parliaments at the 17^th PUIC Conference in Algiers.

Next, Chair of the NAM PN, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova and Secretary General of the PUIC Muhammad Khouraichi Niass signed a memorandum of understanding regarding the matter mentioned above.
