GNAT Delegation Visit Alley of Honour, Martyrs’ Lane and Baku Turkish Martyrs’ Memorial
The visiting delegation led by the head of the Türkiye-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary friendship group of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Şamil Ayrım went to the Alley of Honour, Martyrs’ Lane and Baku Turkish Martyrs’ Memorial on 1 February.
In the Alley of Honour, the Turkish parliamentarians paid home in memoriam our National Leader, architect and builder of the modern Azerbaijani State Heydar Aliyev. Fresh flower bouquets were put at his graveside.
Having arrived in the Martyrs’ Lane then, the guests commemorated with veneration the sons of the Motherland who had sacrificed their lives for her freedom and sovereignty, and covered their gravestones with fresh flowers. The Turks also went to the Eternal Flame Memorial.
Afterwards, the Turkish MPs were observing the cityscape sprawling before them from the highest point of Baku as they listened to a story about the history of the Martyrs’ Lane and about also the building and amenity works afoot all over the capital city.
The Turkish delegation also visited the Baku Turkish Martyrs’ Memorial – a monument commemorating the Turkish soldiers killed in the battle waged to liberate Baku in 1918. Flower bunches were put at the foot of the Memorial.
Head of the Milli Majlis working group for the Azerbaijan-Türkiye inter-parliamentary connexions Ahliman Amiraslanov and other officials accompanied their Turkish colleagues.
