Milli Majlis Chair Sahiba Gafarova Meets with Moroccan Ambassador to Azerbaijan
Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova had a meeting on 16 February with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Azerbaijan Mohamed Adil Embarch.
They exchanged views on the inter-state and inter-legislature relations, based in each case on mutual esteem, and underlined the fine political links as well as the constant and close co-operation and mutual support in international organisations. Morocco has always backed Azerbaijan’s initiatives internationally and, especially so those motioned under the aegis of the Non-Aligned Movement.
Highlighting the role of reciprocal visits in broadening the relations, the interlocutors added that those trips could help intensify connexions not only between our states but also between our people. The two nations see many things eye to eye; their spiritual values established over the course of history include such ones as multiculturalism, respect for others and rejection of Islamophobia.
It was further said that networking and arrangement of two-way visits of parliamentarians could bring about more extensive connexions between our legislative assemblies. The co-operation between both legislatures’ friendship groups and the importance of their joining forces were also emphasised as the conversation progressed. There are many other topics that our MPs could work on together, amongst them countering Islamophobia and double standards in international relations together.
Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova praised the active Moroccan involvement in the work of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement established at the suggestion of President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, including Morocco’s participation in the constituent rally of the Network in Madrid and its first conference in Baku. Also, Mrs Gafarova supplied Mr Embarch with ample information about the Network’s institutional growth and agenda lying ahead.
Azerbaijan’s victory in the Patriotic War, the restored wholeness of our national territory and the large-scale restoration and revival work apace in the de-occupied provinces were talked about as well – as was the mutual support of Azerbaijan and Morocco for each other’s territorial integrity.
