Members of the Milli Majlis – Chairman of the Agrarian Policy Committee Tahir Rzayev, his deputy Sabir Hajiyev and committee members Novruzali Aslanov, Azer Badamov, Mushfig Jafarov, Emin Hajiyev, Aydin Huseynov and Igbal Mammadov – have gone to the Food Security Institute of Azerbaijan (FSIA) to familiarise themselves with its workings.

First, Mr Rzayev and the parliamentary committee members had a conversation with Chairman of the Food Security Agency of Azerbaijan (FSAA) Goshgar Tahmazli who told them of the arrangements to ensure food security in our country and the work apace in line with the 2019-2025 State Food Security Programme and the Food Security Law, in effect since 1 January 2023.

The MPs were told of the work done at the Institute. It was said that the Institute had laboratories specialising in food safety, integrated research, plant and animal health – all to ensure food security and protect public health in the country.

Tahir Rzayev and MP Azer Badamov praised the state-of-art labs and equipment fit to exacting studies of ingredients of plant and animal products and foodstuff at the Institute. They also lauded the FSIA’s human resources and their potential.

The parliamentarians acquainted themselves with the instruments and other equipment of the FSIA labs. Besides, they were made familiar with the lab testing methods employed to determine and ensure safety and proper quality of plant and animal food products. The guests watched a lab research as it unfolded and exchanged views with the hosts on matters of common interest.
