The head of the Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation to Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Co-operation Eldar Guliyev, MP Jala Ahmadova and the PABSEC Secretary General Asaf Hajiyev took part in the 61st meeting of the Legal and Political Affairs Committee of the PABSEC, held online on 22 February, alongside parliamentarians of the other member-states.

The approval of the agenda of the meeting and the minutes of the 60th committee gathering was followed by a report on the role of legislatures in boosting economic security in the PABSEC countries. The committee members offered their opinions, remarks and suggestions regarding this.

Jala Ahmadova began by remembering the victims of the earthquake in Türkiye and sending her condolences to the brotherly Turkish people. Talking about the above-said topic then, she stressed that health care, education, employment and social protection were central to legislation in Azerbaijan – as is clearly seen from the 2023 State Budget. MP Ahmadova went on to tell of the steps being taken to increase social protection (salaries, pensions and allowances) and education spending in our country. There is a special stress placed on social protection and improving public welfare in Azerbaijan, according to the Azerbaijani legislator.
