Mexican Parliamentary Delegation Visits Shusha

The parliamentary delegation led by the chairman of the Mexico-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary friendship group of the Chamber of Deputies of Mexico’s Congress of the Union Albert Villa Villegas went to Shusha on 27 February.

On arrival, the Mexican MPs were told of the history of the town, its condition during the occupation and the current revival under the direct control of President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva. Besides, the delegation of Mr Villegas were told of the on-going restoration of Shusha’s historical monuments.

The guests were taken to the Yukhari Govkharaga and Ashaghi Govkharaga mosques, other sites, the stronghold walls of Shusha and its square with the monuments to Khurshidbanu Natavan, Bulbul and Uzeyir Hajibeyov installed in it – the monuments which, the Mexicans were told, the Armenian invaders had been firing at in the occupation period.

After that, the Mexican delegation went to the Jydyr Plain – back to its former role as a venue of splendid events and festivities, they were informed.
