There was a Meeting with the Israeli Ambassador to Azerbaijan at Milli Majlis
The Azerbaijani MP Azay Guliyev met with the Israeli Ambassador to Azerbaijan George Dick on 23 February and told him, after the cordial welcome, of the special importance attached to furthering the relations with Israel in our country. Communities representative of various peoples have always coexisted peacefully in Azerbaijan; there are Muslims as well as the adepts of other religions in this country, MP Guliyev remarked.
He went further to inform Mr Dick of the arrangements and provisions made for the Judaists and of the synagogues functioning in Azerbaijan.
MP Guliyev referred to the close friendship ties between the two nations as he was talking about promoting the Azerbaijani-Israeli relations. The progress of the multi-faceted co-operation between Azerbaijan and Israel is in the interests of both sides, he pointed out.
The work of the Milli Majlis Working Group for interparliamentary connections with Israel was mentioned in a positive key; it was said also that the future mutual visits and meetings of our parliamentarians were going to play a serious role in the on-going expansion of the bipartite co-operation.
George Dick thanked MP Guliyev for the heartfelt reception. He mentioned the friendship between our states and nations established historically, made a reference to the continuing development of the bilateral co-operation in various areas and praised the achievements that Azerbaijan had made throughout the independence years. Azerbaijan is a role model for other countries as far as tolerance is concerned, besides: the Jews have always lived in peace and accord in this country, which is a true sign of brotherhood and amity, according to Mr Dick.
He then spoke of the progressing agrarian interaction, co-operation in renewable energy and implementation of new technologies, and the rational use of aquatic resources.
The splendid victory won in the 44-day Patriotic War, the Israeli State’s assistance in restoring and rebuilding the de-occupied lands and treating the wounded Azerbaijani war veterans and other matters were discussed at the meeting as well.
