Inter-Parliamentary Groups of Milli Majlis, Mexico’s Chamber of Deputies Meet
As she spoke at the meeting of the inter-parliamentary connexions groups of the Milli Majlis and the Chamber of Deputies of Mexico on 28 February, the head of the Azerbaijani working group Jala Aliyeva underlined the firmness of the foundation on which the two-way friendship and co-operation rest – as well as she did those ties’ evolution with each passing year. She also touched on parliamentary diplomacy’s contribution to the inter-state relations and stressed the importance of broadening the inter-legislature ties and arranging tighter links between the two groups.
The arrival of the Mexican parliamentarians in Azerbaijan coincides with the 31st anniversary of the Khojali Genocide, one of the biggest calamities in the history of humankind, according to Mrs Aliyeva who recalled the 2011 documents of the Mexican Parliament that were objective towards the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict and the tragedy of Khojali. Jala Aliyeva also recalled with gratitude that the friendly Mexico, always adherent to a fair approach to the then most painful problem of Azerbaijan, had stayed true to the principles of verity and justice during the Patriotic War and was by Azerbaijan’s side advocating the application of international law at that time.
The chairman of the Mexico-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary friendship group Alberto Villa Villegas, in his turn, shared his satisfaction with the visit to our country before telling of his previous membership and leadership of friendship groups concerning several other countries in the Mexican Parliament. Apart from diplomacy as such, the relations between Mexico and Azerbaijan stand on the bonds of true friendship of their peoples, in his view. He said that the friendship groups could work better eventually relying on that friendship and responding to various challenges together. With all the differences between our countries, we still share the same values in many respects, according to Mr Villa Villegas.
The Azerbaijan-Mexico WG’s Tural Ganjaliyev and Iltizam Yusifov commented on the growth prospects of the relations between our countries.
Then, the Mexican deputies Xavier Kasike Zarate, Elva Agustina Vigil Hernández and Navor Alberto Rojas Mansera spoke.
