Going to PACE Committees’ Meetings

The committees of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe for Political Affairs and Democracy, Monitoring, Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons, Legal Affairs and Human Rights, and Culture, Science, Education and Media will be meeting in Paris from the 15th to the 23rd of March.

Amongst the participants of those meetings will be a group of our MPs (Rafael Huseynov, Erkin Gadirli, Kamal Jafarov and Nigyar Arpadarai) led by the chairman of the Milli Majlis International and Inter-Parliamentary Relations Committee, head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the PACE Samad Seyidov.

Integration of migrants and refugees, Afghanistan and the humanitarian crisis hitting Afghani refugees, keeping peace and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean and the European implications of the recent developments in Libya and Middle East will be discussed in the French capital. Also, the committees will look at strengthening links between the Council of Europe and Latin America, the European Convention on Human Rights and national constitutions, the legal aspects of joining the said Convention, heritage and climate changes, preservation of cultural identities at times of peace and war, and other things.

The members of the Milli Majlis will take part in the discussions and come up with comments and suggestions of their own.

The Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan - The state legislative power branch organ is a unicameral parliament that has 125 MPs. The MPs are elected as based on the majority electoral system by free, private and confidential vote reliant on the general, equitable and immediate suffrage. The tenure of a Milli Majlis convocation is 5 years.
