Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis, head of the parliamentary Youth and Sports Committee Adil Aliyev met with participants of the 23rd International Winter School of Multiculturalism dedicated to the Year of Heydar Aliyev on 20 February. The MPs Emin Hajiyev, Jala Ahmadova, Ramil Hasan and Konul Nurullayeva took part in the meeting as well.

Adil Aliyev told the visitors he was glad to see them in the Azerbaijani parliament; he passed on to them the greetings of Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. The guests will become familiar with the Azerbaijani traditions of multiculturalism during the School, according to Mr Aliyev who told them of the country’s youth and sports policies. Not only is Azerbaijan a country of multiculturalism but she is also one of sports, all thanks to the successful course of the Head of State, in the opinion of Adil Aliyev.

He went further to describe the work of his committee, done to streamline the youth and sports legislation; he said also that the main goal of the youth policy was to raise physically and morally sound, well-educated and patriotic young people. Mr Aliyev also brought up the importance of the youth staying resilient to modern negative influences and laid out the ideology of Azerbaijanism that is at the core of our youth’s ideological security.

It was also mentioned that bringing young people together at international sport competitions and other events creates great opportunities for them to get to know each other and socialise. A good example of this is the organisation of the International Winter School of Multiculturalism, which Adil Aliyev elected to describe as a practical and realistic model. Next, he declared his assuredness of its successful completion and its participants leaving then and taking away with them most favourable impressions of Azerbaijan.

Then, Head of the Information Support and Documentation Department of Baku International Centre for Multiculturalism Yadigyar Mammadli said thanks for the kind reception before telling about the 23rd International Winter School of Multiculturalism.

The meeting proceeded with answering the participants' questions and discussing topics of interest to them. And then, the guests were shown to the statue of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev in the foyer of the Milli Majlis and the Victory Corner established there, and were taken on a tour of the Chamber where parliamentary sessions in plenary take place.
