A Meeting at the Milli Majlis

Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis Fazail Ibrahimli met with the delegation led by Co-Chairman of the Ukraine-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary friendship group of Ukraine’s Supreme Rada Volodymyr Kreydenko on 28 February.

Mr Ibrahimov passed on to the guests the greetings of Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova before highlighting the similarities in our national mentalities and drawing parallels between the independence histories of the two states. He also underlined the significance of our political dialogue in the advance of the relations based on the international law principles including those of inviolability of sovereignty, territorial integrity and international borders.

The Vice Speaker brought up Azerbaijan’s brilliant victory in the Patriotic War and praised the Ukrainian people’s and state’s support for Azerbaijan’s fair stand and territorial wholeness.

Co-Chairman of the Supreme Rada’s friendship group for Azerbaijan Volodymyr Kreydenko thanked the Azerbaijani side for the warm welcome and hospitality; he also thanked the Azerbaijani state and people for the humanitarian aid extended to his country.

Ukraine has always supported the wholeness of Azerbaijan’s territory on the principle, according to Mr Kreydenko who witnessed satisfaction with the Ukrainian-Azerbaijani friendship and with the progress of the bilateral co-operation in various areas.

The Supreme Rada friendship group’s members Anton Shvachko and Nikolay Galushko, in turn, held forth about our relations.

The growth prospects of the bilateral co-operation and regional security matters were discussed then.

Among the other participants of this meeting were Head of the Milli Majlis working group for the Ukraine-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary connexions Rufat Guliyev, the WG member Naghif Hamzayev, Chairman of the United Azerbaijani Diaspora of Ukraine Hikmat Jafarov and the 1st Political Affairs Secretary of the Ukrainian Ambassador in Baku Yevghen Osadchiy.

The MPs are elected as based on the majority electoral system by free, private and confidential vote reliant on the general, equitable and immediate suffrage. The tenure of a Milli Majlis convocation is 5 years.
