An exhibition of the paintings by an artist of the YARAT Modern Arts Centre and a graduate of the Royal Academy of Arts of Belgium Ramal Kazim dedicated to the Khojali Genocide was organised and graced by the visit of Speaker Sahiba Gafarova in the foyer of the office building of the Milli Majlis on 26 February.

The art show at which a quartet from the State Philharmonic Society of Azerbaijan performed was visited by First Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis Ali Huseynli, Deputy Chairs of the Milli Majlis Fazayil Ibrahimli and Adil Aliyev, Milli Majlis committee chairs and deputy chairs, members of the parliamentary political parties, Chief of the Milli Majlis Staff Safa Mirzayev and other officials.

Speaking of his paintings on display, the expressionist Ramal Kazim said the set included a series of pieces made as an artistic exposé of the Khojali Genocide - ‘Ravished Nests’, ‘The Hollow Man’, ‘Protest’, ‘Zori Balayan’s Face’ and ‘Hope’. Those paintings featured in the ‘Khojali - the Tearful Eyes’ exhibition at the National Palaces Painting Museum in Istanbul and the ‘Justice for Khojali!’ set at the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Belgium - all to the tell the world the truth about this genocide.

The expressionism of the artist gushes with the experience and psychological condition of the people subjected to extermination. As for the ‘Hope’, it is a sign telling us that there is a silver hope in every dark tragedy - the hope that has come true thanks to the latest developments we have all gone through and with our lands having been cleared of the enemy’s grip.

Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova viewed the exhibition and thanked Ramal Kazim for having expressed the tragedy of Khojali artistically with such success. She highlighted the importance of seeing such artistic displays and wished the young artist further creative achievements.
