Colombian Congress Issues a Statement on Khojali Genocide

The Permanent International Relations Commission of the Colombian Senate and the Colombia-Azerbaijan Friendship Group of the Colombian Congress’ Upper Chamber (Senate) have issued a statement marking the 29th anniversary of the Khojali Genocide.

The document signed by the First Vice Speaker of the Senate, Chairman of the above-said Commission and many Senators tells of the genocide of the civilian population of the Azerbaijani town of Khojali when, on 26 February 1992, 613 defenceless townspeople including 63 young children, 106 women and 70 aged persons were killed. The Senate of Colombia marks the Khojali Genocide recognised as such by a number of national legislative authorities and commemorates the victims of this tragedy, the statement goes.

The friendly Colombia sends its condolences to the government and people of Azerbaijan on the deaths of the genocide victims and wishes the Azerbaijani nation and government solidarity.
