Chair of Milli Majlis Meets with Speaker of Slovakia’s National Council
Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova and Speaker of the National Council of the Slovak Republic Boris Kollár, in Baku for the National Leader Heydar Aliyev Centenary special meeting of the Azerbaijani Parliament, met and talked on 17 May.
Mrs Gafarova, who told Mr Kollár that she was pleased to greet him in the Milli Majlis, went on to speak of the unique merits of the Great Leader for the good of our nation and state.
After that they moved on to the energetic dialogue between Azerbaijan and Slovakia as well as their fruitful connexions –bilateral ones as well as those going under the aegis of international organisations.
The energy sector was broached as well. Mrs Gafarova referred to Azerbaijan’s contribution the European energy security and the projects started at Azerbaijan’s suggestion and with her involvement not only ensuring the progress of the engaged countries but also carrying weight in terms of diversifying energy resource haulage to Europe.
Slovakia has always supported Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity wholly and categorically, according to Mrs Gafarova who filled Mr Kollár in on the restoration work afoot in the de-occupied lands and mentioning Slovak companies’ involvement in this.
Speaker of the National Council of Slovakia Boris Kollár expressed his contentment at participating in the special jubilee meeting of the Milli Majlis. He spoke in excellent terms of Heydar Aliyev's unprecedented services to our people and the state as well as of the work he had done for Azerbaijan's all-round development and stronger international standing.
Further, Mr Kollár focused on the roles of the legislatures in furthering the bilateral inter-state links and on the importance of two-way visits of delegations for a stronger inter-parliamentary interaction.
Sahiba Gafarova brought up her official visit to Slovakia and the meetings during it, whilst Mr Kollár spoke of his impressions from his own trip to Azerbaijan and the then conversation with Mrs Gafarova last year. In addition, Mr Kollár recalled his travel to Fuzuli and Shusha which had been prized from occupation around that time.
Other matters of common interest were also talked about as the meeting went on.
