Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis/Head of the parliamentary Youth and Sports Committee Adil Aliyev said to Deputy Chairman of Russia’s State Duma Alexey Gordeyev as they met on 16 May that the current year had been declared 'Heydar Aliyev Year' in our country due to the 100^th anniversary of the National leader.

Representatives from many parliaments and inter-parliamentary organisations attended today's jubilee meeting of the Milli Majlis, Mr Aliyev added, highlighting appreciatively the participation of Mr Gordeyev as well.

Heydar Aliyev was able to do what was considered impossible for the Azerbaijani people, and the foreign policy is one of the greatest achievements of the Great Leader, Adil Aliyev was saying. This policy rests on a solid foundation and is bearing fruit today. It was with Heydar Aliyev's return to power that the relations between Russian Federation and Republic of Azerbaijan entered a new phase, beginning to advance in the vein of good-neighbourliness, friendship and partnership. Adhering to the same political line now, President Ilham Aliyev continues to provide a qualitatively higher level of bilateral relations.

Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Alexey Gordeyev, in turn, expressed his respect for the memory of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev who, he emphasised, was a great politician.

Inter-parliamentary connexions’ growth prospects and other matters too were talked over as the conversation went on.
