An event was held at the Heydar Aliyev Centre on 14 June, on the eve of National Deliverance Day, that is, to celebrate the centenary of Azerbaijan’s National leader. The programme of the ceremony included several presentations.

As it happens, both the centenary of the Great leader and the thirtieth anniversary of his return to power are in 2023. The installation 'Heydar Aliyev – 100', the photo album 'Moments in the Life of the Great Person' and the documentary film 'The Trace' were presented at the Centre to honour such momentous anniversaries.

Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Assadov, Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova and Head of the Presidential Administration Samir Nuriyev graced the event by joining its participants.

The Centre’s Director Anar Alakbarov delivered a speech about the significance of this gathering. He did not omit to mention that the first screening of ‘The Trace’ documentary had been done as part of the Kharybulbul International Music Festival in Shusha, followed by one at the Baku Centre in view of the high interest in the film.  As regards the photo album 'Moments in the Life of the Great Person' which the Heydar Aliyev Centre had put together, by the way, it offers the first ever public glimpses of some photos of the National Leader. This is a photo chronicle that covers different periods of the Doyen’s life and multi-faceted multilateral political work, according to Mr Alakbarov.

Merited Artist of the Republic Rashad Alakbarov whose installation the ‘Heydar Aliyev – 100’ is says that it is wrought in the op-art style widespread the world over beginning in the second half of the XX century. Created within six months, the composition recreates a portrait of the Grand Archon with the ‘light’ of the 100 pillars symbolises the centenary of Heydar Aliyev and speaks in artistic tongue of the timeless, enduring essence of his genius.

The artist's explanation was followed by the presentation of the ‘Heydar Aliyev – 100’ installation, whereafter People's Artist Farhad Khalilov shared his impressions of the work.

‘This is a very beautiful and exemplary work worthy of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and notable as a piece of modern art,’ Mr Khalilov commented.

The event participants got eyefuls of the installation and of the photo album then.

Honoured Artisan Ayaz Salayev spoke up to tell of the filming of ‘The Trace’ documentary, commissioned by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation to celebrate the centenary of Heydar Aliyev before the screening proper began.

Based on Heydar Aliyev's speeches and appearances recorded at various times, the film's script traces the emergence of modern and independent Azerbaijan’s – the concept authored by the Grand Leader. The narrative covers his life of the national leader, commitment to the Motherland and the people, and the consistent efforts to strengthen Azerbaijan as an independent state and liberate Garabagh from invaders.

The documentary also includes the footage of the actual liberation of our formerly occupied lands under the leadership of President and victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. Which is really rather remarkable for the restoration of the territorial integrity of our republic meant that the Nation’s Captain’s testament was fulfilled, and his dream came true.
