Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis, head of the Youth and Sports Committee Adil Aliyev, currently visiting in Egypt, had a meeting with Speaker of the House of Representatives of the country Hanafy Ali El Gebaly on 11 June.

At the meeting in the Egyptian parliament Adil Aliyev reviewed the history of relations between Azerbaijan and Egypt. He said that the traditional friendship had moved on to a new level of progress following the visit of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev to Egypt in 1994. The Deputy Speaker also paid addressed the current advance of those ties in line with the political will of the Heads of State, undoubtedly, in the best interests of both nations. Besides, Mr Aliyev stressed the necessity and importance of interaction in international organisations, particularly within the Non-Aligned Movement and its Parliamentary Network.

Adil Aliyev also informed Hanafy Gebaly of the Armenian vandalism committed against our mosques and heritage during the occupation of Azerbaijani lands as well as of the post-war regional realities and Azerbaijan's peace initiatives.

Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Arab Republic of Egypt Hanafy Ali El Gebaly recalled his attendance of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev Centenary session of the Milli Majlis in May this year and was pleased to recount his meetings in the course of that visit to Baku.

The conversation went on; Mr Aliyev and Mr El Gebaly also touched on the growth of inter-parliamentary collaboration and other matters of shared concern.
