GNAT Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş and Delegation Go to Alley of Honour, Martyrs’ Lane and Turkish Martyrs’ Memorial

The delegation led by the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (GNAT) Numan Kurtulmuş went to the Alley of Honour, the Shahids’ Lane and the Turkish Martyrs’ Memorial on 12 July.

In the Alley of Honour, the members of the delegation, in Azerbaijan on an official visit, commemorated our National Leader, architect and builder of the modern Azerbaijani State Heydar Aliyev and put a wreath in front of his tombstone.

Fresh flowers also decorated the gravestone of the Great Leader’s spouse, outstanding ophthalmologic researcher, Academician Zarifa Aliyeva.

On arrival at the Martyrs’ Lane the Turkish delegation paid tribute in memoriam the heroic sons of the Motherland fallen for her freedom and sovereignty. Their graves were adorned with fresh flowers.

A wreath was installed in front of the Eternal Flame Memorial as well.

Then, the delegation feasted their eyes on the cityscape from the highest point of Baku and listened to the story about the past of the Martyrs’ Lane as well as about the building and renovation afoot all over the capital of Azerbaijan.

The GNAT delegation also went over to the Turkish Martyrs’ Memorial erected in honour of the Turkish military fallen in the Baku liberation campaign of 1918. Flower bouquets were put at the Memorial, with Mr Kurtulmuş signing the commemorative book there.

All the while the Turkish delegation were accompanied by First Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis Ali Huseynli, Head of the WG for inter-parliamentary connexions with Turkiye Ahliman Amiraslanov and other officials.
