Speaking with Delegation of Uzbekistan

Chairman of the Milli Majlis Disciplinary Commission and head of the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan inter-parliamentary connexions WG Eldar Ibrahimov had a meeting with the delegation led by Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bobur Usmanov on 13 June.

Eldar Ibrahimov told the guests that Azerbaijan found it very important to promote comprehensive advancement of her relations with Uzbekistan. He brought up the historical and spiritual ties between our countries and said that the splendid terms on which the leaders of the two states are bore well on our co-operation’s dynamic progress.

The special role of our legislatures in the deepening of the two-way connexions was mentioned as well. The inking of a co-operation agreement and a relevant roadmap by the legislatures during last year’s visit of Milli Majlis Speaker Sahiba Gafarova to Uzbekistan had given rise to new opportunities to solidify the inter-parliamentary co-operation, Mr Ibrahimov told the Uzbek visitors.

Uzbekistan’s involvement in the restoration of the Azerbaijani lands ridden of Armenian occupation was talked of, too. Mr Ibrahimov mentioned the construction of a large school in Azerbaijan’s Fuzuli Province by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on behalf of the Uzbek people as another fraternal move made in the context of our relationship. Mr Ibrahimov then shared his thoughts about making the collaboration stronger.

Bobur Usmanov underlined Uzbekistan’s intention to take the relations with the friendly and brotherly Azerbaijan further before he told of the exploration for new opportunities to do so.

The members of the Milli Majlis Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan inter-parliamentary connexions WG Javanshir Pashazade and Elman Nasirov as well as the Uzbek ambassador in Baku Bahrom Ashrafkhanov, in turn, talked about the strengthening of the bilateral co-operation.

Other matters of shared interest were broached as well.

The officials who attended the meeting included our MPs Aydin Huseynov and Anar Mammadov as well as Jahonghir Aminov, a department head from the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
