Going to PACE Committees’ Meetings

Samad Seyidov who chairs our parliamentary committee for international and inter-parliamentary relations and heads the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE as well as the MPs Asim Mollazade, Erkin Gadirli and Kamal Jafarov will be attending the scheduled meetings of the PACE committees no political affairs and democracy, monitoring and on legal issues and human rights in Paris on 7-15 September.

Samad Seyidov is also going to participate in a meeting of the PACE Bureau.

The meetings will hear periodic monitoring reports on the member states. Besides, their participants will discuss the Council of Europe members' compliance with their membership commitments, the implementation of the judgments by the European Court of Human Rights, the role of the CE in preventing conflicts, restoring confidence in international institutions and promoting global peace, the challenges currently facing Europe as well as regional security and some organisational issues.

Our MPs will make their mark in regard to the issues to be discussed by the committees; comments and proposals will be made. The head of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE Samad Seyidov will deliver a speech The challenge of extreme right-wing ideology to democracy and human rights in Europe at the meeting of the Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy.

The Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan - The state legislative power branch organ is a unicameral parliament that has 125 MPs. The MPs are elected as based on the majority electoral system by free, private and confidential vote reliant on the general, equitable and immediate suffrage. The tenure of a Milli Majlis convocation is 5 years.
