Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova Receives Turkish Delegation to APA
Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has had a meeting with the delegation of Türkiye to the Asian Parliamentary Assembly led by Abdulkadır Emin Önen, an envoy of the APA Chair, who have participated in the meeting of the organisation’s Committee on Social and Cultural Affairs in Baku
Satisfaction with the advance of friendship and brotherly ties between Azerbaijan and Türkiye was expressed at the meeting; it was said that those ties were here to stay and, at the same time, set a fine example for many countries to follow. Our interaction grows and expands from day to day in the spirit of the Grand Leader Heydar Aliyev’s slogan ‘One nation – two states’. Besides, Azerbaijan and Türkiye support each other on various international platforms; the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan showed the whole world in his recent speech at the UN General Assembly that the brotherly Türkiye was right by Azerbaijan’s side, backing our just cause without fail.
Türkiye was sending in delegations and supporting our country politically and morally throughout the 44 days of the Patriotic War as well. On the other hand, Azerbaijan, too, demonstrated more than once that she stood shoulder to shoulder with Türkiye, it was said during the conversation.
As regards our inter-legislature relations, their high level and progress, bilaterally as well as multilaterally, was cited as one to match our interaction in all the other areas. The Memorandum of Understanding inked between the Milli Majlis and the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye promotes that progress, according to Sahiba Gafarova who also underlined the relevant importance of reciprocal visits. She recalled fondly the GNAT Chairman Numan Kurtulmuş’s visit to Azerbaijan in July this year and the meetings and discussions held during it.
As she was telling her guests of the latest developments in our region, the Chair of the Milli Majlis remarked that Azerbaijan was taking consistent steps towards peace and stability whereas Armenia, on the contrary, obstructed the achievement of peace with its military and political provocations. Mrs Gafarova mentioned several major military provocations and acts of terror by the Armenian armed forces located in Azerbaijan’s Garabagh Region and said that our country had responded to those by starting the local anti-terrorist measures in the region.
Speaker Sahiba Gafarova then told about the large-scale restoration work conducted by Azerbaijan in her de-occupied territories and about also the arrangements being made for the erstwhile IDP to return to their native parts.
Abdulkadir Emin Önen thanked Sahiba Gafarova for seeing them and for the hospitality before mentioning the high organisational level of the Baku meeting of the APA Committee on Social and Cultural Affairs and emphasising the relevance of the topics discussed at that meeting.
The relationship between our friendly and sibling countries has always stood every test and trial with flying colours and has only grown stronger over time; it encompasses all the possible areas of interaction today, in the opinion of Mr Önen.
Other matters of shared interest were talked over as well as the meeting continued.
