Member of the Senate of the Italian Republic and Head of the senatorial Italy-Azerbaijan Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Marco Scurria has sent a letter to Head of the Milli Majlis Working Group for the Azerbaijan-Italy Inter-Parliamentary Connexions Azer Karimli.

The Italian Senator writes that he follows closely developments in the South Caucasus; he wishes Azerbaijan and Armenia a fair and sustainable peace for the good of their peoples and adds that Italy supports the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan unconditionally, and has always held a clear and consistent stance, one reliant on the international law, as regards the sovereignty and wholeness of the national territory of our country. Further, Marco Scurria emphasises the Italian side’s not recognising the so-called ‘presidential election’ held in the Garabagh Region of Azerbaijan, adding that such iniquities flagrantly violate international legal norms and principles and must be condemned by the international community.

Senator Scurria caps his letter by expressing support for the peace agenda and normalisation process in the region as well as the efforts to reintegrate the Armenian populace within the constitutional frameworks of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
