The Parliamentary Delegation of the Council of Europe (PACE) passed a resolution and a recommendatory document on 12 October regarding the Garabagh Region of Azerbaijan, and both those documents are departed from the truth and facts, echo the main Armenian propaganda elements, are biased and rooted in lies. The delegation of Azerbaijan to the PACE has issued a statement of protest in this regard.

In their statement, the delegation of our country stressed that the said documents completely ignored the territorial claims of Armenia to Azerbaijan, those from which the regional conflict had stemmed. Further, those documents ignore equally as blindly the armed occupation launched against our country and the ethnic cleansing of the Azerbaijani people. In essence, the documents in question demonstrate, once again, the unfair attitude of the Council of Europe to Azerbaijan.

The goals and purpose of the local anti-terrorist measures that Azerbaijan carried out on 19-20 September 2023 are distorted; unfounded claims are levelled at our country. At the same time, there is no reckoning at all with that those measures aimed to eliminate the incessant military threats against Azerbaijan and to remove illegal armed formations. In addition, efforts to reintegrate citizens of Armenian origin living in the Garabagh Region of our country into Azerbaijani society are not assessed as they should, which poses new obstacles to achieving lasting peace in the region. Obviously, the pro-Armenian politicians of France and a number of other European countries are trying to obstruct the normalisation process initiated by Azerbaijan in the region through phoney means in order to receive immediate dividends from the Armenian Lobby and to denigrate the righteous cause of our country.

The statement by the Azerbaijani delegation to the PACE reiterates its categorical refutation of the unfair attitude to our country being demonstrated thusly; the delegation of Azerbaijan to the PACE regards it as unequivocally symptomatic of a collapse of democratic values within the boundaries of the European Council.
