A Meeting of Milli Majlis, Knesset Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Groups
The head of the Milli Majlis working group for the Azerbaijan-Israel inter-parliamentary connexions Anatoliy Rafailov together with the WG members met with the delegation led by a member of the Knesset’s Israel-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary friendship group Yevgheniy Sova on 4 September.
Telling the guests that he was glad to greet them at the Milli Majlis, Anatoliy Rafailov described Azerbaijan and Israel as two friendly states whose relations are advancing. He also praised Israel’s backing to Azerbaijan during the 44 days’ Patriotic War.
It was said then that the inter-state relations were rooted in the centuries past. Jews in Azerbaijan and Azerbaijanis in Israel have for long years lived in amity and accord, having taken an active part in the respective national social and political processes and life in general.
The importance of the inter-parliamentary interaction and the significance of the work done by the two legislatures’ friendship groups as well as of the opening of the Azerbaijani embassy in Israel were underscored, too.
Yevgheniy Sova of the Israel-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary friendship group passed on to the Azerbaijani side the greetings of the group’s leader before sharing his impressions from the meeting he had had with Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova and then thanking Mr Rafailov for the warm welcome and saying that the friendship of our countries and peoples were a source of satisfaction. Israel is interested in co-operation in Azerbaijan diversely, according to Mr Sova.
The growth prospects of the inter-parliamentary connexions and economic relations as well as other matters of shared interest were discussed then.
Amongst the other participants of the meeting were members of the Azerbaijan-Israel group Arzu Naghiyev, Jala Ahmadova, Rasim Musabeyov, Elnur Allahverdiyev and Fatma Yildirim.
