PABSEC Economic, Commercial, Technological and Environmental Affairs Committee Held its 56th Meeting

The Economic, Commercial, Technological and Environmental Affairs Committee of the PABSEC held its 56th meeting on 17 March. The event that the Istanbul-based International Secretariat had arranged as a videoconference was attended by the leader of the Azerbaijani delegation to the PABSEC Eldar Guliyev and the delegation member Elshad Mirbashir oglu alongside the delegates of the other member-states of Russia, Turkey, Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova, Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Serbia and Armenia.

Adoption of the agenda was followed by approval of the Minutes of the 55th committee meeting held online in October 2020.

At this session, which was dedicated to the economic aspects of parliaments’ roles in preventing human trafficking, the relevant draft report and the draft recommendation were tabled by the leader of the Albanian delegation Andrea Marto and the leader of the Turkish delegation Cemal Öztürk respectively.

The report ‘The Role of Parliaments in Preventing Human Trafficking: the Economic Aspects’ was approved after deliberations on the subject-matter. Andrea Marto was appointed to present the report before the General Assembly.

Organisational matters were also addressed at the same meeting; the leader of the Bulgarian delegation Petar Kanev was elected the new chairman of the PABSEC Economic, Commercial, Technological and Environmental Affairs Committee.

The meeting that the PABSEC Secretary General Asaf Hajiyev took part in as well was concluded with the resolution to hold the 57th committee meeting in Bulgaria on 15-16 September.
