Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova Met with Ambassador of Qatar to Azerbaijan Faisal bin Abdullah Al Hinzab
The Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with the Ambassador of Qatar to Azerbaijan Faisal bin Abdullah Hamad Abdullah al Hinzab on 3 November.
Welcoming the guest, the Speaker said she was glad to see him at the Milli Majlis and emphasised the great importance that Azerbaijan attaches to developing the multi-faceted relations with the friendly state of Qatar. The conversations held during the visits of the two state leaders and the documents signed between the two countries provide a solid legal foundation for the bilateral relations. It was said also that Azerbaijan and Qatar had signed 32 documents to date. The current political dialogue between the countries is having a benevolent influence on our economic interaction, too: the volume of trade between Qatar and Azerbaijan generated US$ 2 million last year alone.
Chair Gafarova spoke of the sound relations between the supreme legislative authorities of the two countries before mentioning the Milli Majlis working group for Interparliamentary contacts with Qatar. Both sides’ MPs take an active part in the work of the influential international parliamentary organisations and will spare no effort to support each other when matters of consequence are discussed, she added.
Having touched on the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Highland Garabagh, the Speaker told of the current situation in the near-front areas. Then, Sahiba Gafarova thanked the Qatari state and people for their support to Azerbaijan in Azerbaijan’s just struggle.
Ambassador Faisal bin Abdullah Hamad Abdullah al Hinzab expressed his gratitude for the sincere welcome and voiced his country’s intense interest in this region of the Caucasus. He went on to say that the negotiations held during the exchanged visits of the high-ranking delegations had formed a robust base for deepening the relations between the two states.
Next, the visitor expressed a confidence that a continued intensification of the Interparliamentary co-operation would contribute substantially to strengthening the friendship and strategic partnership between our countries further. He proceeded to voice support for the stance of the friendly Azerbaijan with regards to resolving the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Highland Garabagh as well as in respect of other principal matters.
Then, the two exchanged opinions about the matters of shared interest.
