Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Culture Committee Elisso Bolkvadze and the delegation she is leading went to the tomb of the Grand Leader Heydar Aliyev and the Martyrs’ Lane in Baku on 23 September.

First, homage was paid to the memory of our National Leader, architect and builder of the modern Azerbaijani State Heydar Aliyev at his resting place in the Alley of Honour. A wreath was installed before his tomb.

Then, the MPs went to the Martyrs’ Lane to pay tribute in memoriam the heroic sons of the Motherland who had laid down their lives for her independence and sovereignty. The warriors’ gravestones were decorated with fresh flowers.

The visitors also went to the Eternal Flame memorial.

As they gazed at the cityscape of Baku from the capital’s highest point, the Georgian colleagues also listened to a narrative about the prehistory of the Martyrs’ Lane and the building and gentrification work apace all over Baku.

The guests were accompanied by Arzu Naghiyev who heads the Milli Majlis working group for the Azerbaijan-Georgia inter-parliamentary relations.
